Beach thoughts

If you know me, you know that I love the beach. My love for it is second only to my love for my family! It is this untamed force of nature, full of mystery and beauty. Every time those waves hurl themselves against the rocks it's the most passionate explosion of sea and salt. Even when the tide is calm and just quietly kisses your toes and pulls back to withdraw itself, there resides a demure resplendence about it. *sigh* I just can't get enough!

So in honor of the hot summer currently going on and my intense fasination with the ocean, here are just a quick few of my favorite reminders...

June Happenings

Good morning!

I already love today! Some people call it June Gloom with the skies full of overcast clouds and no sun, but I call it a nice break from the hot summer air. It's the perfect time to sit with a cup of tea and enjoy the morning breeze. Ahhhhhh....

So here are your June happenings!

~ You have a chance to win the Plumfield hair clip and brooch! ENTER HERE

~ There is a way to own a piece of Bonita Bellita (and some other great shops) while helping others! As you know, earlier this year some very nasty tornadoes swept through Joplin, MO leaving destruction and broken people. Handmade for Hope is a collection of various people who have all decided to put together items to raise money for Convoy of Hope or the Joplin Adopt-a-Classroom Fund. Every little bit helps! So please, try to take a peak and look at the amazing creativity and amazing individuals who are banding together to help! If you'd like to see the baskets with Bonita Bellita in them, go see

#12 The Trendy Girl Basket

and #16 The College Girl Basket

~If you live in the Southern California area, during the month of July you can see Bonita Bellita in a local shop! Itty Bitty's Closet is a fantastic little shop full of gently loved clothes, toys, bedding, and essentially all things children! It caters from newborns all the way to clothes in a size 12, and everything is so well priced and organized! The best part is that they are going to have a section where you can find my creations, especially for young girls! Here is just some of what you'll find there-

~Wow, a lot going on! Hope that you'll have a chance to check out one of those three happenings!

Until next time,

A brief glimpse of summer beauty

So needless to say, the gardening bit didn't work out. I had fresh green shoots come up, but then I also have two kids who decided to dig for more. *sigh* I'll just have to try again! In the meantime, I'm loving being outside in this perfect weather! There are soft breezes, fresh flowers, and late sunsets. Dreamy! So based on all that, here is just a little of what has been on my mind!

A greener tomorrow

So I have been neglecting the blog lately, I'm so sorry to those of you who follow and wonder "what gives?" I don't blame you one bit! Life has just been full and now I'm ready to get back to my shop, my blog, and now a little garden!

Isn't that a perfect way to start the spring? Here is a little peek what I started today (thank you, Target dollar bins)

I'm hoping to add a little bit of basil and chives to my upcoming spring cooking. I'll keep you all posted on how well this little venture of mine works out. If it does well, then maybe I can plant a little more, but considering I like in an apartment with a tiny balcony, it's tough. I really like this idea but just don't see it happening...

It's not too late to start yourself! Here are a few clever little ways to get your own plot of earth going!

Golden way to start the morning

Recently I just acquired a desire to make my sweet little apartment more of a home. I wanted to give a feeling of being beautiful but not in a flashy sense. Enter the re-doing of my jewelry in my room. It's a small place to start, but considering I have about 3 jewelry boxes... now 4... it's not that small! Its where I start my mornings, and one of my favorite spots.

So I decided to take out all my necklaces and put them all full display. Instant wall decor AND I get to look at my pretty pieces all at the same time! I call that a win-win situation! Here's a peek at what I did, it's very simple: thumbtacks in bright colors to support my various necklaces.

And for the rest of my earrings and pretty things, I have the traditional wooden boxes. I wanted something more unique. Enter Jacquelyn of Everyprettything and her amazing jewelery chests! She creates everything from pillows and wall hangings to hair clip holders and frames. My favorite though, is without a doubt her lovely boxes for trinkets. I asked her to create one for me, and she did it beautifully.

Doesn't it just fit in beautifully? I can't tell you how invigorating it is to reach for my ring/bracelet/other jewelry item and see the bold black lines and marigold print. It always starts my day beautifully!!

Much love,
me

Lots of Lovin'

Ah, this is one of my favorite parts of the year... We've stuffed ourselves with Thanksgiving, unwrapped Christmas, watched the ball drop on New Year (well, you may have... I slept), and now... the last of the holiday season before we celebrate spring.

Do you know what I'm talking about?

Valentine's day! And what I love about it (no pun intended) is that it's a holiday about caring again. Yes, I adore the cupcakes and pink and red and chocolate and jewelry, but ultimately the idea that we can remember the romance in our lives is kind of a nice thought. Some people may not have that special someone out there or be tending to that very broken heart, and to those the 14th of February may not be so kind... but I have a hug for you, whoever you are. Love isn't all about kisses and cuddles, it's about knowing that a person out there cares for you. That is the love I'm talking about, and its worth a whole lot more than a date. I promise.

Anyways, now that I'm off my sappy soap box, and on the the fun stuff! These are a few of the items I am just so enthralled with right now, get ready!
